Abstract The aim of this study was to examine whether during the Covid-19 pandemic there was an increase in aggressive online behaviours among adolescents. The mediating role of psychological resilience and the importance of emotion regulation in the relationship between cyberbullying and mental well-being is examined. Cyberbullying is also explored as a dysfunctional coping strategy for dealing with feelings of loneliness. This study aimed to provide a review of research focusing on the phenomenon of cyberbullying published between 2020 and 2023. For this purpose, a systematic search of the Google Scholar database was conducted and 15 empirical studies were included and qualitatively examined. Social media that facilitate social interactions have become a fertile ground for cyberbullying. The transition to distance education was not found to have a negative impact on the mental health of the majority of adolescents. Time spent in online interaction was found to be associated with lower levels of loneliness among adolescents suggesting possible avenues for addressing the negative effects of prolonged isolation due to Covid -19. During the pandemic, the prevalence of engagement in cyberbullying and cyber-victimization shows culturally dependent trends, namely an increase in prevalence in many Asian countries and a decrease in Western countries.
