Abstract The present study was a systematic literature review, aiming to investigate the attitudes and perceptions of primary school teachers about distance education. The research revealed contradictory conclusions about distance education. While benefits were acknowledged, significant shortcomings and challenges were also identified, as well as negative attitudes from a significant proportion of teachers. The presence of negative attitudes, along with associated problems and challenges, is determined by a number of factors, including both demographic and external influences. The study revealed that factors such as gender, age, experience, as well as infrastructure and technological expertise can influence teachers' views on distance education.
