Abstract Teachers in their daily lives in the context of the school classroom face students' behavioral problems, which make the teaching and learning process difficult. Classroom management is, therefore, an issue that preoccupies teachers and causes them concern. Training is how teachers can gain important knowledge and improve their abilities and skills in preventing and dealing with student behavior problems. For the effectiveness of educational programs, it is necessary to investigate the educational needs of teachers. The aim of this work is to investigate the perceptions of teachers regarding students' behavior problems and their educational needs. More specifically, the research investigates their views on what behavioral problems are and how teachers manage the classroom. In addition, the training needs of teachers and their preferences regarding the manner, content, format and method of their training are investigated, as well as who they consider suitable trainers for these programs. The research was qualitative and was carried out by conducting a semi-structured interview with 15 Primary Education teachers active in the prefecture of Rethymnon. From the responses of the teachers, it was seen that students' behavioral problems are an issue that concerns them in their daily lives and causes them anxiety. In addition, teachers consider it necessary to provide mandatory training for current teachers, with content related to classroom management and effective intervention strategies. Educators prefer live training on the specific issue with exemplary teachings and consider Academics as suitable trainers, but also teachers with extensive experience.
