Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between creatiνe
thinking ίη speech and design with the performance of children with ADHD
(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) ίη Language and Mathematics. Ιη
particular, we sought to investigate the creative potential of children with ADHD and
the relationship of the indiνidual factors of creative thinking with the performance of
these children ίη language and mathematics.
The sample of our research consists of a total of 1 3 children, 5ιh and 61h grade.
Of the 1 3 students, 9 were boys and 4 were girls and they attended schools ίη the
interior of the Prefecture of Rethymno during the 20020-2021 School Year. All
participants had been diagnosed with ADHD by Public or Private Child Psychiatric
Centers and by the Center for Educational and Counseling Support (ΚΕSΥ) of
Rethymno.
The eνaluation of the children's creatiνe thinking was done with the Greek
version of the Test Toπance of Creative Thinking (Verbal, Figural) and the
educational evaluation in the Language and Mat.hematics courses was done with the
Construction and Weighting Project of 1 2 Investigate- Detective Tools (Criteria) of
Learning Difficulties Test Reading Test-A by SuzanaPanteliadou and Fai Antoniou
and the Psychometric criterion of Mathematical Proficiency for children and teenagers
(for students aged 7.06-1 5.05) by GiorgosBarbas.
The results showed that there is a significant relationship between the creative
thinking of children with ADHD and their results ίη mathematics. Howeνer, the
language results of children with ADHD appeared to have a positive but nonsignificant
coπelation with both the verbal and figural scales of the TTCT, while math results was found to haνe a positiνe statistically significant coπelation only with the
results scale of the ΠCΤ .
