Abstract Psychomotor development is an important part of complete development of the person. Over the last years there has been an attempt at researching psychomotor development and associating it with several factors such as twinning. The goal of this thesis was the investigation and the comparison of psychomotor development between twins and non-twins children of ages 4 to 6 years old. During the literature review, a gap (on this research field) concerning the studies of psychomotor development of twins, as only in recent years the scientific interest has shifted towards this particular subject. In the present study, 38 children of ages 4 to 6 years old participated, 18 of which were twins. The hypotheses of the study were the following: 1) Twinning factor is interrelated to psychomotor development of children of ages 4 to 6 years old, 2) Order of birth of twins is associated with their psychomotor development, 3) Age is related to psychomotor development of twins and non-twins, 4) There are differences between sexes in each group of children and 5) Girls of both groups exhibit advanced psychomotor development. For the study of psychomotor development of the children Peabody Development Motor Scales 2 was utilized. In addition, a psychomotor development questionnaire was utilized, which was filled from the parents. The data results from the questionnaire showed that twinning is interrelated to psychomotor development of the children in the domains of gross motor skills as twins had statistically significantly lower score compared to non-twins. In addition, positive relation between age and fine and gross motor skills of children was found. The results show that non-twin preschool children have a small lead in developing their gross mobility. The study of psychomotor development of twin and non-twin preschool children will enhance the understanding of development of children as a whole and the factors which attribute to it. The results of the present study may be of use in the educational community and can act as base for the evaluation of psychomotor development of twins and non-twin children of preschool age with the intention to enhance the course of their psychomotor development.
