Abstract The purpose of this work is to investigate the contribution of robots to the cultivation of language skills in preschool children. After a literature search in five databases, 12 studies that met the search criteria are presented and critically analyzed. The analysis of the tasks showed that the robots enhance the cultivation of language skills, maintain the children's interest and curiosity, and the children seem to be more actively involved in the activities. While enthusiasm and engagement in the activities is greater with the robot than with the human teacher, there does not appear to be a significant effect of the use of robots on student learning outcomes. Children learn equally well with the help of the robot and with the teacher.
