Abstract The present study explores the role of gender in the development of the teacher and the effective administration through the views of teachers of Primary Education in the prefecture of Chania. The branch of the participants was teachers and the results will be studied according to the gender and status of the participants. The interviews were conducted in May and June 2021. Eight school heads and eight class teachers, who serve in public primary schools in the prefecture of Chania, participate in this research. The sample consists of an equal number of men and women. The approach chosen for the study of this research is qualitative. The sample was of ease and the research tool used to collect the data was the semi-structured interview. Before conducting the interviews and recording the conversation, participants were informed about the purpose of the survey, the recording of the interview and ensuring their anonymity. The purpose of this research is to investigate whether there are stereotypical views in the field of education management regarding gender, whether different leadership styles are distinguished between men and women, whether there are obstacles to the professional advancement of male and female teachers, and whether teachers feel ready to take up an administrative position. Through the research, an effort will be made, from the views of teachers, to reflect proposals for equal participation of both sexes in the administration of education, based on the obstacles that must be overcome by each individual. In conclusion, this work is based on the views of teachers, school heads and non-principals, about the role that gender plays in their development and effective management. An attempt is being made to outline the mentality and perceptions that now exist in the field of education.
