Abstract

This paper examines the design, implementation and evaluation of distance learning materials that support differentiated instruction: A case study of adolescent nutrition. The educational material in question was created in the context of distance education for the Health and Nutrition course of the 2nd grade of the Unified Special Vocational High School. Then, the educational material was evaluated in terms of whether it is governed by the principles and methodology of distance education, whether it was created in accordance with the principles of Multimedia Learning and the principles of Differentiated Teaching and in terms of its strengths, but also in terms of possible changes for its improvement, by the three-person team of distance education experts. The evaluation was carried out by applying the qualitative research method, after a questionnaire with open-ended questions was used as data collection means and semi-structured interview. The experts' opinions according to the research questions they answered are almost all positive, thus confirming the agreement of the educational material with the principles of distance education and therefore, the continuous guidance and support it provides to the learner during the learning process. In addition, the experts highlighted the strengths of the training material and suggested changes to improve it. Finally, the present study is pilot and constitutes the occasion for further research in a wider population sample with the possibility of generalizing its conclusions.
