Abstract |
The purpose of the present thesis was the creation of a lesson on the theories and application of Educational Robotics (E.R.) using Bee-bot in kindergarten. The educational material (E.M) was based on the following frameworks: • the method and the principles of distance education (D.E) • the pedagogical dimensions of introducing E.R. in preschool education • the framework of adult education and • the specificities of the targeted learning group: kindergarten teachers The E.M. was based on a complete E.R. scenario created for the WRO Hellas STEM and Educational Robotics competition titled "The City I Dream of Living in". The course consists of 3 teaching units: The first unit is an Introduction to E.R. with Bee-bot as an educational device in the kindergarten. A brief historical review and the basic concepts of E.R. are presented. The second unit is an extensive overview of the theoretical framework of E.R., starting from the learning theories that support it and reaching the completion of an ER scenario, animated by the beloved robot. The third section is constituted of two subsections: a) the familiarization activities with Bee-bot and b) the teaching scenario "The city I dream of living in" for kindergarten A two-phase survey was carried out to evaluate the E.M. of the course. In the first phase, a questionnaire was used to investigate the opinions of D.E. experts on whether the Μultimedia Learning principles and the methodology of D.E. and multimedia learning are applied. The second phase presents the study of the views about the lesson of a group of kindergarten teachers. Finally, a qualitative analysis of the research data was carried out. The study results form the evaluation of the E.M. of the course. They also trigger reflection on the realization of similar training regarding the application of the E.R. in preschool education.
