Abstract Multimedia is considered to be a powerful tool for designing a learning environment. Due to their ability to integrate multiple ways of presenting information, as well as to provide a combination of representations, both visual and verbal which are provided simultaneously, under the condition to follow and apply pedagogical theories and fundamental principles (Glaser et al., 2006 Mayer, 2001). In the context of this work, a multimedia learning environment for teaching harmony in music was designed and implemented, making use of these possibilities of teaching technology. According to recent scientific research, in an electronic learning environment, it is necessary to combine elements from several pedagogical theories, using tools and means, offered by computer technology and the Internet, in order to achieve the best possible learning outcome (Ally, 2004; Dede, 2008). The purpose of this research work is to design, implement and evaluate a complementary intervention, using the Distance Education method, through educational material and applications, focusing on music lessons, and more specifically keyboard lessons, to Primary School students. This material is aimed at Primary Education students and can be used as supplementary educational material in the subject of Music. The educational material and its content are the result of research. For the implementation of the design of the educational material and the principles proposed by distance education researchers, the digital tool H5P as well as the Chamilo platform were applied. At the same time, the Plotagon and Doodly applications were used to enhance the hardware. Finally, for the needs of the research, the purposeful sampling of Distance Education was chosen, along with a questionnaire of open-ended questions. Finally, the method of Qualitative Content Analysis was also used.
