Abstract This research aims to explore teachers’ and students’ attitudes towards the use of educational material designed with the methodology of distance education in history. Matters of usability of the material, better understanding of history content, development of critical thinking skills through the use of educational material were examined. A qualitative methodology was employed combining elements of action research. Feedback from teachers and students was used to better the material. Data collection involved semistructured interviews, open-ended questionnaires and participatory observation. The sample of research were nine primary school teachers and eleven 6th grade students. The implementation of the teaching material followed the station rotation model, a model of blended learning, which combines face to face learning with internet supported learning. The study results showed that the use of teaching material can contribute to better understanding of history content. In addition, the majority of teachers believe that it can contribute to the development of critical thinking skills through exploratory methods such as critical analysis of sources and stochastic dialogue. The positive attitude of the students is suggested by their choice of the educational material as a means of learning history in classroom.The positive attitude of teachers is suggested by their preference of combining the use of teaching material with the school book as a means of teaching history.
