Abstract

The topic of traffic education is a particularly important issue for safety. It is very important that children from an early age be sensitized and properly informed about road safety issues. The correct information leads to the recognition of road hazards and how to avoid them. Among the innovative programs applied in Primary Education is that of Skills Workshops which also refers to Traffic Education. Its main purpose is the correct and responsible information of the students on matters of road safety and education. Given the importance of the topic, the purpose of this research work is to create additional educational material with the method of Distance Learning through the interdisciplinary approach of appropriate thematic units for the teaching of Traffic Education in Primary School. The educational material was created for the first grades of Primary School, mainly for 3rd grade students and is divided into eight teaching units: getting to know “Stamatis” and “Grigoris”, on the way to school, means of transport and communication, traffic signals, my bike and I, riding safely as a passenger, riding safely as a pedestrian, traffic accidents. The purpose of this work, in addition to the design, development and implementation of educational material, is its evaluation in order to diagnose deficiencies or the need for modification, aiming to improve the quality of the content.
