Abstract In this work, we explore the fundamental problem of thermalization in quantum systems, focusing on ergodic behavior in relativistic quantum field theories (QFTs). By leveraging the Eigenstate Thermalization Hypothesis (ETH), a key framework for understanding quantum thermalization, we aim to test its validity in QFT models using the Truncated Conformal Space Approach (TCSA). We analyze both integrable and non-integrable systems, specifically the Sine-Gordon and Double Sine-Gordon models, to examine their level spacing statistics and the behavior of diagonal and off-diagonal matrix elements of specific observables in the energy eigenbasis. Special attention is given to quantum many-body scars, a phenomenon that weakly breaks ergodicity, offering insight into states that evade thermalization. Through these tests, we address broader questions related to quantum chaos and the emergence of thermal equilibrium in quantum systems. The findings have implications for understanding ergodicity in high-energy physics problems, such as early universe dynamics and the black hole information paradox.
