Abstract |
In recent years, patient satisfaction has emerged as a useful and widely used tool for evaluating and comparing different hospitals and health facilities. In this context, to date, numerous studies have been conducted that investigate patient satisfaction levels, however, both internationally and in Greece, there is a relative lack of research focusing on cardiology unit. In this context, the main purpose of this study was to assess the degree of satisfaction of hospitalized patients with the services provided, as well as to investigate those factors that affect patient satisfaction and overall image of the health services offered to them in the context of operation of the Cardiology Clinic at the University General Hospital of Heraklion. For this purpose, a synchronous observational study was carried out where the degree of satisfaction of patients from Cardiology clinic was evaluated, and for the collection of the necessary data, structured patient satisfaction questionnaires

of the Ministry of Health were given. The collection of questionnaires lasted one month, the sampling design used was simple random sampling, and the statistical analysis was performed in IBM SPSS v24 software. The results of the survey show that the patients in the sample are satisfied with the health services provided. The highest degree of satisfaction comes from medical care, while the lowest degree of satisfaction comes from the hospital environment. The degree of overall evaluation of the hospital during the stay of the patients is affected by the satisfaction from the nursing care and the satisfaction from the environment. Various demographic factors, such as gender, age, insurance, level of education and health status, do not significantly affect patient satisfaction levels with physicians, nurses, hospital environment, nor their overall assessment for the hospital.
