Abstract Initially, for the needs of this thesis, the supplementary teaching and learning material for students with autism entitled: "Safely... I'm moving" was designed and developed, according to the distance education methodology. The specific educational material was created in the framework of the Modern Greek Language course of the 4th grade of elementary school and more specifically concerns the teaching of the 5th unit on the topic: Safely... I'm moving. The main reason that led to the selection of this particular unit from the wider thematic unit of the Modern Greek Language is the fact that many students with autism do not possess basic concepts for the specific thematic unit, traffic education, which are necessary in their lives, so that to drive safely on the roads. The training material was then evaluated in two phases. In the first phase, the educational material was evaluated by Distance Learning experts regarding whether it was designed and implemented according to the principles and methodology of Distance Learning and according to the principles of Multimedia Learning. In the second phase, the educational material was evaluated by the special education teachers regarding its completeness and adequacy according to the needs and peculiarities of students with autism. The research in terms of the type of data collected for analysis is qualitative. The coding and processing of the data in both phases of the research was carried out using the technique of qualitative content analysis. Finally, the two groups of evaluators positively evaluated the educational material as a whole and seemed willing to use it in addition to teaching the specific thematic unit for students with autism.
