Abstract |
Preschool education is considered vital to a child's development. Recent research suggests that the role of kindergarten in the children’s development is very important, as this age is sensitive to their future academic and social life. The use of mobile learning is recognized as a tool that can enhance children's knowledge and experiences and support specific areas, according to the educational perspective. In the present research, an attempt will be made to investigate the contribution of mobile learning, in the teaching of a subject of natural sciences, to a preschool student, who faces special educational needs and is supported by a teacher of parallel support. The aim is to determine whether the use of mobile learning has positive effects on the cognitive field and the socio-emotional development of the student. First, a brief reference is made to the most important teaching models of the natural sciences, emphasizing the model of constructivism, which is considered the most effective. Then, the terms related to the field of special education in Greece are clarified, as well as the institution of parallel support. Then, the international literature on the use of mobile applications and the effects they have on students with special educational needs, both in their socio-emotional development and learning outcomes. Finally, the methodology and the procedure of the educational intervention, which was implemented, guided by the idea of inclusion, using the ScratchJr application on a tablet, are described and the results are presented.
