Abstract Nowadays, there is an obvious need of increasing energy reserves while the natural resources are decreasing. Therefore, finding alternative energy resources and developing existing ones, as exploitation of the solar power through the development of high performance PV systems, seems to be really important. The motivation for this thesis is the synthesis of one molecules (small molecule) which has as core triphenylamine. This molecule is used as donor in the organic solar sell. This molecule is called T and it is prepared by a four-step synthesis and contain triphenylamine as core and phenylethenylthiophene as arms. In this molecule, triphenylamine is a donor (D) unit and cyano is an acceptor (A) unit. The donoracceptor structure will extend the absorption spectrum of the molecules to longer wavelength by an intramolecular charge transfer between the donor and acceptor units.
