Abstract |
Εducational programms must make use of all possible means to cultivate the young citizens of society. However, the traditional way of teaching and the conventional content of the school curriculum cannot meet the modern requirements of cultivating critical thinking, intercultural attitudes, environmental awareness, civic education, etc. Innovative educational programmes come to fill this gap in the educational process, which is why it is necessary for them to form an important part of the content of the school curriculum and the educational system. An important role in the implementation of innovative educational programmes in the Greek educational system can be played by the cooperation between the school and the Local Government. This paper explores the relationship between schools and local government in the implementation of innovative educational programmes. The combination of the method of literature review and qualitative research was used to conduct the research. Through interviews with teachers, school principals and local government education officials, data were collected in order to answer the research questions of the study through qualitative analysis with a thematic character, in relation to the strengthening of education through innovative programmes, the obstacles to cooperation between the institutions and the prospects of cooperation between schools and local government for the utilisation of relevant programmes. The results showed that the benefits of using innovative programmes in education are significant both for the education system itself and for teachers and learners. However, significant barriers exist and hinder the cooperation between schools and local authorities in implementing innovative programmes. Addressing these obstacles is necessary to ensure that all stakeholders can work together for the common goal of implementing innovative educational programmes within a renewed legislative framework, without bureaucratic obstacles and with all the information necessary.
